The Library’s collection of printed material comprises approximately 50,000 books and 400 titles of current periodicals.
Collections of digital material, such as databases, electronic periodicals and books, are gradually being developed.
In addition, users have access to audiovisual material which includes a large number of scientific and educational DVDs/CD-ROMs and videotapes.
The Library collections cover the following subject categories:
Sciences and Social Sciences, Shipping, Agriculture, Business Administration,
Technology and Applied Sciences with particular emphasis on IT, Electronics and Telecommunications,
Greek Literature, Ancient Greek and Byzantine Literature, Greek History, the Arts and Language.
On the second floor visitors will find all the books which have been published by the Eugenides Foundation.
The ground floor houses the young people’s section, with books for younger people from all the subject categories covered by the main adult library.
The periodicals section is housed on the first floor, where periodicals are shelved in alphabetical order of their titles. The same subject areas are covered as in the books section. Subject catalogues are also available to provide further assistance to interested parties.
You can also access the Library’s periodical catalogue via the Union Catalogue of Scientific and Technological Libraries (http://www.ekt.gr/products/skp/index.html), as the Library is a member of the ERMIS network of the National Documentation Centre. The Union Catalogue allows users to identify the library or libraries where a particular periodical is held and to see the entire collections of the participating libraries.
The arrangement of material in the Library is intended to allow the reader to find what he is looking for as rapidly as possible. For the convenience of visitors diagrams with precise details of the arrangement of the books have been posted on each floor.
