The Eugenides Foundation Library’s Young People’s Section is now up and running.
The Library has always taken a special interest in young people - especially schoolchildren and students - and been sensitive to their needs, seeking to offer them the appropriate material and aids for their age. The increasing numbers of young people using the Library over recent years led to our decision to enrich our collections with books and digital material for a younger audience, and to expand the range of events we organize for younger age groups, starting with the older grades of primary school.
And so, in a specially laid-out room on the Library ground floor we have opened a Young People’s Section, catering mainly to youngsters aged 10 and above, with material from all the subject areas covered by the Library, such as science, technology, environmental protection, literature, history and many others. This new facility can also serve as a meeting place for the younger friends of our Library.
With the opening of the new Section we have launched a series of activities and meetings, all intended to make young people more familiar with the world of the book or to introduce them to a particular field of knowledge. These events are organized under the general title The Book – a fabulous adventure! a new initiative by the Eugenides Foundation Library, intended for younger readers
Finally, we are continuing our programme to familiarise schoolchildren with library use and practice, working in association with teachers and schools. Find out more in the section Introducing schoolchildren to the Library
